Local Instructor Receives National Recognition

Green River Community College political science instructor Bart Salisbury has been selected from a national applicant pool to attend two different summer study opportunities supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).

The NEH is a federal agency that each summer supports Landmarks of American History and Culture workshops so that faculty can work in collaboration and study with experts in humanities disciplines.

Salisbury, who was one of 50 faculty selected nationwide, will participate in a workshop entitled “Revolution to Republic: Philadelphia’s Place in Early America.”  The one-week program will be host by the Society for the Historians of the Early Republic and directed by Dr. Roderick McDonald, professor of history at Rider University and editor of the Journal of the Early Republic.

In addition, Salisbury was chosen to participate in the Civil Rights movement in Mississippi workshop.  The NEH sponsors six workshops of 50 faculty each, who in turn will teach over 50,000 American students the following year.
