For the second year in a row, the Society of American Foresters (SAF) has awarded the Outstanding Student Chapter in the nation to Green River Community College’s Natural Resources program.

The 2007 award will be presented to Green River at the SAF national convention in Portland this fall. Last year, Green River tied for the honor with Mississippi State University.

The Natural Resources program at Green River has a strong tradition of student participation in a variety of instructional and community service activities that raise awareness of conservation and resource management.

Green River Community College is one of only a few community colleges in the state to offer an Associate in Applied Science degree in Natural Resources with different degree programs in forestry, water quality, park management, Wildland fire, and Geographic Information Systems.
