Students Should Use Off-Campus Parking Alternative for After 9 a.m. Arrivals

For students arriving at Green River Community College between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. parking is extremely tight and your best bet is to park at Pacific Raceways and take the campus shuttle to GRCC.

College shuttle buses run from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from the raceway to Holman Library and back. There is unlimited parking at the raceway and GRCC campus safety is onsite. Pacific Raceways is located just east of the 304th/312th Ave. exit off Highway 18.

“Monday’s first day of the quarter was similar to the first day of fall quarter,” said Fred Creek, director of campus safety. “Parking was full on-campus by 9:15 and remained full throughout the morning.” Tuesday was a repeat of Monday with on-campus parking full by 9:15 a.m.

On-campus parking tends to peak during the first 10 days of the quarter and then subside, said Creek, who said that students can also park at Family of Grace Lutheran Church, just south of Circle K, and walk to campus. The college has about 40 parking spots at the church.

Neighborhoods where parking is not allowed include Lea Hill, which is just north of Parking Lot 1, and Rainier Ridge which is just north of Campus Corner Apartments. The City of Auburn will also ticket cars that are illegally parked on 124th Ave. SE and SE 320th Street.
