Alumnus Tre Simmons
Green River Alumnus, Tre Simmons, Joined Maccabi Tel Aviv, a professional basketball team that plays in the Israeli and European basketball competitions. According to Yarone Arbel, Correspondent for Euroleague Basketball, "Simmons is an athletic swingman with a strong basketball IQ and good outside shooting skills. He has spent the past season-and-a-half in Israel after joining Hapoel Galil Elyon in 2006 after a brief stint in Spain with Gran Canaria. Simmons played college basketball at the University of Washington, where he averaged 16 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in his senior season, earning all PAC-10 conference honors. In January 2006 Simmons signed for Greek side PAOK Thessaloniki. He averaged 15 points on 40.8% three-point shooting and 2.6 assists in 25 games for Holon last season and 19.2 points, 2 assists and 2 steals for Galil the season before." Simmons led the Gators to a runner-up finish in the NWAACC back in 2003 before transferring to the University of Washington, where he helped lead the Huskies to the Sweet Sixteen. .
