Unique Program for Veterans at GRCC

Veterans can select one of three paths: Water Technology, Geographic Information Systems, or Natural Resources.

For the second year in a row, veterans from recent conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq will be able to participate in a unique training program at Green River Community College.

The program, coordinated by the Veteran’s Conservation Corps (VCC), focuses on Green River’s Natural Resources program and allows VCC participants to select one of three paths: Water Technology, Geographic Information Systems, or Natural Resources.

In addition to taking classes, last year’s group worked with a variety of governmental agencies on habitat restoration projects. A wildlife and vegetation project on the Duwamish River earned VCC the Coastal America 2007 Partnership Award.

Registration for fall quarter classes at Green River is underway and enrollment slots are available for veterans in the Green River program. Participating veterans may qualify for tuition and a monthly stipend for living expenses.

For additional information, contact VCC’s project manager, Jeremy Grisham at jgrisham@greenriver.edu, or by calling Green River Community College at (253) 833-9111.
