Apply and register in 5 easy steps:
Prior to taking the COMPASS assessment, apply for admissions online. It is ideal to apply at least a few days before taking the COMPASS assessment in order to allow time for application processing.
The Assessment and Testing Center is located in the Zgolinski Welcome Center. You must meet eligibility criteria to enroll in Running Start. Bring picture ID.
The high school counselor will complete their section of the Running Start Enrollment Verification form. This form a) releases you from your high school so you can attend GRCC, and b) informs GRCC about the amount of credits you are released to take in the Running Start program. This form must be turned in each quarter in order to participate in the Running Start program.
Home schooled students must contact their local high school/district to seek instructions on enrollment procedures, which may differ from district to district. All home schooled students must also turn in the Running Start Enrollment Verification form every quarter.
Submit Running Start Enrollment Verification form to the Zgolinski Welcome Center. Upon submission of your Running Start release paperwork, you will sign up for a mandatory Running Start Orientation.
You must sign up for the Running Start Orientation (first-come basis). During orientation, you will register for classes and learn specific information about attending college and Running Start.
Important Tips for Success
- Complete the enrollment process in a timely manner to ensure enough time to attend the mandatory orientation and to meet Running Start registration deadlines.
- Always bring picture ID with you to complete assessment and enrollment activities.
- Prior to attending orientation, review the class schedule and think about class times, combinations, etc. that you might want to take.
- Bringing high school transcripts to orientation can be helpful, as some classes will allow students to be placed according to credit completed in high school.
