Preparation Tips and Resources

Review the FAFSA and WASFA checklists.

View the workshop flyer and FAFSA and WASFA checklists to find out the difference between the two funding options including eligibility requirements, information and documents needed to complete each application.

Create your FSA ID prior to attending the workshop.

You will need a Federal Student Aid I.D. to access and digitally sign your FAFSA. It’s a good idea to create your FSA I.D. prior to attending the workshop. If your parent(s) information is required on the FAFSA your parent will also need to create an FSA I.D.

Bring a parent if you are a dependent student.

If you're classified as a dependent student under state or federal guidelines your parent(s) will need to provide their information on your WASFA or FAFSA. If your parent is unable to attend the workshop they can log into your FAFSA or WASFA at a later date to complete their portion. Please note that your FAFSA or WASFA will not be considered complete until all information and signatures have been submitted.

If you do not know whether you are a dependent or independent student you can click here to determine your status.

Bring your 2015 Tax Return or W2 Form.

You will need to provide income and tax information on your WASFA or FAFSA. For ease and convenience be sure to bring your 2015 tax return or W2 Form. For students who are completing the FAFSA, you may be eligible to use the FAFSA's Data Retrieval Tool to download your 2015 tax filing from the IRS; however, it's a good idea to bring your tax Return and W2 Form as a back-up. If you do not have a 2015 tax return or W2 Form, please bring your most recent tax return or W2.
