Financial Aid Refund/BankMobile Disbursements

Green River College has partnered with BankMobile Disbursements to deliver your remaining financial aid funds after your tuition has been paid.  To view Green River College's contract with BankMobile, a Division of Customer Bank, click here

Example of a BankMoible evelopeNew Students: Once you have completed all the required steps for your financial aid file, you will receive a BankMobile Refunds Selection Kit in a bright green envelope in the mail. The envelope contains information you will need to set up how you would like to receive your refund (disbursement). Please keep your mailing address up-to-date with the Enrollment Services since the kit will be mailed to that address.

You can select your refund (disbursement) preference from three options:

  • Electronically transfer funds to your existing bank account (2-3 days)
  • Open a free BankMobile Vibe checking account (a debit card will be sent to you, which you can use to access your funds)
  • A paper check mailed to you by the U.S. Postal Service (5-7 days)

Please make sure Green River has your correct current mailing address. Once you complete your financial aid file, your Refund Selection Kit will be mailed to your current address on file with the Enrollment Services, so it needs to be accurate.

Disbursement Options

Once you complete your financial aid file, BankMobile Disbursements will send you a Refund Selection Kit in a bright green envelope by mail. The envelope contains information you will need to set up how you would like to receive your refund (disbursement) while you are attending Green River College. 

You have three options to receive your financial aid refund (disbursement). Carefully read through all of the information for each option and make the selection that is best for you.  You can update your refund (disbursement) preference at any time by visiting www.refundselection.com.

  1. Electronically transfer funds to your existing bank account
    You may request an electronic deposit of your financial aid refund (disbursement) to your existing bank account. There is no charge for receiving your refund (disbursement) this way. It takes 2-3 business days for the electronic fund transfer to reach your bank account.

  2. BankMobile Vibe checking account
    The BankMobile Vibe checking account is a free checking account you open with BankMobile Disbursements. With this bank account selection, you will receive a Gator Choice Debit Card which can be used for purchases anywhere a Debit MasterCard is accepted. Students will have free access to their funds when using the Allpoint national network of ATM's as well as the two ATM's on the main Green River campus (Science Building and Salish Hall).

    If you choose this option, your refund (disbursement) is available the same business day Green River College sends the electronic fund transfer. Normally, this is the first day of each quarter for students who have an active award, are in good academic standing, and finalized their class schedules one week prior to the quarter start.

    To avoid paying fees when making a purchase using your Gator Choice Debit Card, use the "swipe and sign" method.  Swipe your card, select the "credit" option and sign your receipt. Your card will still be used as a debit card but without fees, because your debit card cannot be used as a credit card. However, by saying credit the vendor pays the fee.

    You are not required to select the BankMobile Vibe checking account to receive your financial aid refund (disbursement). You only open this account if you want to have your disbursement available on your debit card.

  3. Paper Check
    You may request to have your financial aid refund (disbursement) issued as a paper check. Checks are sent via the U.S. Postal Service to your address on file with Green River’s Enrollment Services Office within 5-7 business days after Green River College sends the funds to BankMobile.

    There is no charge for receiving your refund/disbursement this way, although it will take longer to receive your check.

The timing estimates are after BankMobile Disbursements receives Green River College's electronic fund transfer.  The earliest time to receive your financial aid disbursement will be the afternoon of the first day of the quarter.

Campus ATMs

You can use the Allpoint network of ATM's to withdraw cash and/or view the current available balance on your BankMobile Vibe checking account.  There are no fees when using the Gator Choice Debit Card at one of the Allpoint national network of ATM's.

Caution-fees will be charged if you use the Inspirus Credit Union's ATM located in the Mel Lindbloom Student Union Building.

The daily maximum cash withdrawal is $500.

There are two convenient and free BankMobile ATM locations on Green River College's Auburn campus.

HigherOne was purchased by Consumer Bank and will now be called BankMobile Disbursements. BankMobile Disbursements will disburse remaining financial aid funds to Green River College students.

 

How do I receive my remaining financial aid?

How will I get my Refund Selection Kit to select my refund (disbursement) option?

Once you complete your financial aid file, you will receive your Refund Selection Kit in the mail at your current address on file with the Enrollment Services. Please contact the financial aid office if you need assistance.

How long will it take to get my financial aid disbursement? 

The timing will vary depending upon the date you accept your award and register for classes.  The earliest time to receive your financial aid disbursement will be the afternoon of the first day of the quarter.

Electronically transfer your disbursement to your own checking account (2-3 days).

After requesting a BankMobile Vibe checking account, it can take 5-7 days to receive your Gator Choice Debit Card in the mail.  The BankMobile Vibe checking account is a free checking account used with the Gator Choice Debit Card - you receive funding the same day BankMobile Disbursements receives your electronic fund transfer from Green River College.

Mail a paper check via the U.S. Postal Service (5-7 days).

Does BankMobile Disbursements charge fees for receiving my financial aid disbursement?

You are not charged for receiving your refund (disbursement), regardless of your method of disbursement.

Can I change my refund preference?

Yes, you can update your refund (disbursement) preference at any time online at www.refundselection.com.

Do I have to activate my Gator Choice Debit Card?

You will only receive a Gator Choice Debit Card if you have requested the BankMobile Vibe checking account.  The card must be activated to be used as a MasterCard Debit Card.

What is the BankMobile Vibe checking account and do I have to open one?

You are not required to open a new bank account. The BankMobile Vibe checking account is a free checking account. If you select the BankMobile account option, your Gator Choice Debit Card will be used as a debit card with the checking account.

Where can I use the Gator Choice Debit Card?

If you choose the BankMobile Vibe checking account (free checking account), you can use the card anywhere a DEBIT MasterCard would be accepted.  To avoid fees when making a purchase, select the "credit" option which is called "swipe and sign".  Your card is still used as a debit card but without fees.  Your debit card cannot be used as a credit card.  In most cases you will be asked to sign a receipt if you use the swipe and sign option.  By saying credit, the vendor pays the fee. 

Are there any ATM fees?

There are no fees when you use the ATM's in the Allpoint national ATM network.

Fees are charged if you use the School Employees Credit Union of Washington's ATM located in the Mel Lindbloom Student Union Building.

How will I know when my disbursement (refund) has been deposited to my BankMobile Vibe checking account?

You can sign up for refund status mobile alerts.  You can also check your account balance at an Allpoint ATM for free.

How do I request a replacement card?

If you lose your Gator Choice Debit Card after it has been activated, you can request a replacement card from BankMobile Disbursements.  You will be charged a $10 replacement fee.
