Northwest Tutoring Center Conference 2015

Tutoring programs are essential to academic success, and with increased national attention on degree completion, their role on college campuses has never been greater. This conference is an opportunity for faculty, tutors, administrators, staff, and students of academic resource centers to share and examine the strategies and practices they use to help students achieve new heights.

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Joyce Hammer

Joyce Hammer

Dr. Joyce Hammer is currently the Director of Transfer Education at the State Board for Community and Technical College (SBCTC). She previously worked at Green River College for 19 years as mathematics faculty, mathematics division chair, and more recently, in administration as the Dean of Business, English, and Humanities. In her current role at SBCTC, Dr. Hammer facilitates the applied baccalaureate approval process; collaborates with colleges and public and private universities to improve transfer and access to baccalaureate education; and provides policy leadership for academic and transfer education. Dr. Hammer earned a B.A. and M.Ed. degree at the University of Washington, a K-8 teaching certificate though Gonzaga University, and a Ph.D. in Adult Higher Education though Oregon State University's Community College Leadership Program where her dissertation research focused on improving transitions between high schools and post-secondary institutions in mathematics.
