Life Transitions Program
Jan 19 - Feb 18: Enumclaw Campus: 10am to 2pm - FREE
Transitions are a natural part of life. However, dealing with the challenges of a divorce or the death or disability of a spouse or partner creates more questions than answers.
Is this program for me?
The Life Transitions Program (also known as the Displaced Homemaker Program) assists over 20,000 homemakers statewide each year by providing:
- Connections to college programs and support services
- Job readiness training
- Resume and interview skill-building
- Workshops and classes for life transitions
- Counseling and support services
- Information and referral to resources in the community such as legal, health and other support services
Yes. The vast majority of all graduates report being very satisfied with their overall experience with the program.
In 2005-07, a third of the program's participants entered college after class completion, and nearly half entered college within a year. A quarter of program participants were employed within nine months of completing the program.
No cost to you. Support services and classes are free and offered on a space available basis. Priority for services and classes for college credit are free for participants with 10 years or more as a homemaker. Contract your local program office for more information.
The primary goals of the program are:
- Renewed self-confidence in your own ability.
- Increased communication and decision-making skills.
- Help with deciding if you need further education and training to get a job
- Learning ways to present transferable skills to prospective employers
