Green River Community College has been awarded a grant to launch the South King County College Access Network with a goal to increase college enrollment and completion among South King County students.

The Green River Community College Foundation named Susan Benedict chair of its board of directors at its Dec. 4 executive committee board meeting. She will serve out the remainder of the outgoing president Denton Hanford’s term in addition to a two year term set to begin July 1, 2013.

In response to community demand, Green River Community College’s Professional and Technical Division will be offering a Certified Nurse Assistant course at Birch Creek apartments in Kent starting Winter Quarter.

Green River was recently honored with a visit by a delegation of Chinese representatives from the Civil Aviation Flight University of China.

The Green River men’s basketball team (5-2) received some good news as fall quarter finals began on Monday, when it was announced that the team was ranked eighth in the first Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges coaches’ poll of the season.
