Winter is Coming – Dress Warmly, Use Caution, and Sign Up for Alerts!

Green River students, faculty and staff had the first snowfall of the 2019 winter quarter to thank for snow days during the first week of February. With classes canceled and operations suspended on Feb. 4-5 due to snow and icy conditions, the shortened week presented the opportunity for extra studying, or perhaps to binge watch a few favorite shows. With more snow in the forecast for Friday, Feb. 8, and leading into next week, it is important to be prepared for possible delays, class cancellations, or additional days of suspended operations.
The best way to ensure you are informed regarding campus closures and safety related information is to sign up for campus emergency and safety alerts through text or email. By enrolling to receive updates directly, you will always be up to date with the most current information. Updates will also be posted to greenriver.edu (an alert box will display during an active alert), Facebook and Twitter.
When the college is open after a snowfall, please be sure to allow for extra travel time getting to campus as roads, paths and parking lots may be slippery. After it has snowed, Green River Facilities and Safety crews set to work removing as much snow from pathways as is possible, along with applying de-icing to pathways and building entrances, beginning at 4:30 a.m.

Snow days on campus are not a common occurrence, but it helps to be prepared. Dress warmly in layers, use caution, take your time, and be sure to take a moment to enjoy the season and the beautiful scenery on campus!
