Nilufar

Tajikistan, SUSI 2018

Nilufar has launched a "Girls Empowerment Club" in Bokhtar city. She is conducting trainings for 25 girls from different areas of her province on women's leadership in the American Space; a meeting space provided by the U.S. Embassy. Some of the club participants joined Nilufar in a community service activity, in which they distributed diapers to disabled adults in their village. Their goal was to help restore dignity of those in need, and this was a simple act they could do to help.

Nilufar, writes, “It gives me a feeling of joy and happiness when I see how girls try to build connections between each other and work all together as a team. I am going to invite experienced girls who are members of network of gender champions from the capital Dushanbe to share their experiences with our girls.”

In the future, Nilufar hopes to find a sponsor to expand the Girls Empowerment Club trainings to rural regions of her province in order to engage and inspire more young women.
