Featured Student: Naomi van Roon, The Netherlands

By Lansing Bryan, February 7, 2019

Naomi van Roon found her second home at Green River College. She enjoyed her gap year so much, she decided to come back to study Natural Resources.

Natural Resources is a perfect fit for Naomi because she loves the forests and being outdoors. In addition to her studies, Naomi takes advantage of all the weekend outdoor events that Green River has to offer.  This year she has participated in almost every weekend Student Life activity that Green River has to offer including, snow shoeing, skiing, hiking, and visits to national parks.

Naomi also participated in the new Global Leadership Program which gave her the opportunity to learn a lot about herself.

"This program is all about finding qualities and aspects of yourselves that can make you a leader in multiple ways," said Naomi.

Naomi was able to use her newly acquired Global Leadership skills to find a job on campus. She currently works at the front reception in the International Programs office, so she is one of the first people you see when you walk in the door. Next time you are in the office, make sure to say, "hello".

If you are interested in participating in the Global Leadership program, it will be offered again in the spring.  The deadline for applications is March 4, 2019.
