Green River College’s Ready.Set.College! provides an opportunity for high school students and their families to explore college programs, ways for paying for college, and offers practical strategies for being a successful college student that will help to inform and empower students as they prepare for life after high school.

Our 2022 Ready.Set.College! event will take place on Wednesday, April 20th from 6:00-7:30 PM on Zoom.

2022 Ready.Set.College! Workshops

Session 1

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion on Campus
An overview and discussion about the DEI services and activities that are available on college campuses, and why they’re important to your college community. 

Session 2 (choose one)

Financial Aid Award Letters
Now that you have the financial aid offer from your school, what are your next steps. Understanding your awards, and how they impact you.

Career & Technical Education Exploration
Community and technical colleges offer certificates and degrees that provide students with an opportunity to develop specific technical skills for careers in high-demand fields. In this workshop you’ll Learn about the different options and benefits that are available to you through a career and technical education program.

Session 3 (choose one)

Academic Resiliency
Life often does not go according to plan and the same can be true for your education. When challenges and unforeseen circumstances arise, how will you react and continue to progress towards your academic and career goals. In this workshop you’ll learn about the strategies that you can utilize to overcome the barriers between you and your academic and career success.

Earning College Credits in High School: Running Start, AB, and IB
You don’t have to wait until you’ve graduated from high school to start earning credits towards a college degree. Running Start, in addition to Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate classes offer high school students an opportunity to earn college credits while attending high school—but what are the differences between Running Start, AP, and IB? Is one better than the other? What are the benefits? In this workshop you’ll learn the ins and outs of earning college credit in high school so you can decide which option is the best for you.
