October 2014 Peace Institute Progress Report

The Green River Community Mediation & Peacebuilding Institute

October 2014 Update

Basic Mediation Training

The Basic Mediation Training (BMT) Courses in May and July were great successes, cementing our cooperative relationship with colleagues at the Dispute Resolution Center of King County (DRCKC) and extending our reach into the communities in South King County. They assisted with the May BMT for Green River staff, while our mediators did the same for the July BMT coordinated by Dee Knapp and Sue-Ann Allen for a further 15 participants.

Arbinger Institute Training

Another major development has been the introduction of Arbinger Training for members of the Green River community and this has become the leading edge of our conflict resolution education program. It features a schedule of core modules focused on the causes of – and solutions to – conflict in family, work and social relationships. While mediation services are provided in conjunction with DRCKC at our Kent offices, we have also been able to offer mediation sessions for Green River colleagues, promptly and cost effectively, with the assistance of our volunteer mediators. Registrations are being accepted for the current program of Arbinger Training courses and for the BMTs in May (22-24 & 29 & 30) and in early September. Please contact us by email or by phone.
