Reconnect Events

SUSI Reconnect Workshops

Our SUSI reconnect activities play a major role in encouraging our alumnae to stay connected and to build on the skills and knowledge they have gained during the institutes. Our reconnect activities include:

  • Annual visits to Central Asia to meet the new cohort and to connect them with the previous years’ participants
  • SUSI Reconnect Workshops held every three years

During August 9-11, 2016, we held a 3-day SUSI Reconnect Workshop, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan for the 2013-2015 groups. Twenty nine alumnae, four GRC staff members, the ECA program officer, the Alumni Coordinators from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, and other Kyrgyzstan embassy employees attended this event. Alan Meltzer, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Kyrgyzstan Embassy handed out the certificates of completion to the participants. A major component of the workshop was to hear what our alumnae had achieved since they left the US. We provided additional leadership and presentation skills and encouraged them to arrange a SUSI Alumni Association in Central Asia so that they can continue their follow-on work and support each other.
