Foundation for Success - Learning Living Community: Apply Now for Winter Quarter

We launched the Foundation for Success Program fall quarter. Program participants are getting a solid learning foundation and a good start to their academic college life.

The Foundation for Success is designed for students who could benefit from a bit more guidance, particularly during their first quarter. It is also allows parents to be more involved in their children's well being and progress as they transition into college life. The program includes a special living and learning community at our Campus Corner Apartments.

Space is limited for winter quarter. If you know of students coming winter quarter who would be good candidates for this program, encourage them to apply right away. See the Foundation for Success website for program information and application.

GRCC Int'l Alumni Program is Expanding!

GRCC hosted an alumni reception in Hong Kong in October.

Green River boasts a strong and growing International Alumni Program. Although four year universities have a long tradition of building successful alumni programs, it is a unique effort for two year colleges. Leo Harten (class of '95) is our GRCC Int'l Alumni Coordinator. Leo is the glue that keeps our alumni connected. One way that we keep in touch is through the Alumni Newsletter and the International Alumni website.

Our goal this year is to expand the program, particularly in countries where we have been getting students for over 10 years: Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam and Korea. In October, Leo Harten along with Associate Vice President Ross Jennings and Director of Int'l Outreach MacKenzie Hizon hosted an alumni reception in Hong Kong. Karin Fisher, a journalist from the Chronicle of Higher Education also attended the event. Leo reported that on-line sign-up for the alumni program spiked following the event. Go Green!

Housing Placement Priority

We strongly encourage students to apply early to establish their housing placement priority. Housing placement priority is based on the following:

  1. Receipt of completed housing application
  2. Receipt of $300 housing placement fee.
  3. Visa approval confirmation for students from China and Vietnam

Our popular Campus Corner Apartments fill every quarter and have a waiting list. So, apply early.
