Getting students properly prepared for top universities around the country is our goal.
Engineering students from Green River College are setting the academic bar at top universities around the country.
"Getting students properly prepared for top universities around the country is our goal," said Jeff McCauley, Engineering instructor at Green River College. "Engineering is a very demanding field and we push our students to excel," said McCauley, who has taught at Green River for 27 years.
Green River College's Engineering Program has three major-ready pathways for students:
These pathways are designed to make students transfer-ready at selected four-year universities and reduce the time it takes for students to earn a degree.
Despite the academic rigor – or perhaps because of it – the Engineering program at Green River is the second most requested program at the college for students from around the world. Gabriella Lestari, who graduated from Green River and transferred directly to the University of California Berkeley, was named recipient of the prestigious KAUST Discovery Scholarship.
"There is no statistical difference between the grades you get at Green River and the extremely demanding four-year universities," said McCauley. "Most of our students graduate from the top universities in two years."
In addition to its Pre-Engineering degrees, Green River offers a number of Science and Math degrees that prepare students to transfer directly to major universities around the country. Green River was one of the first colleges in the United States to receive grants from the prestigious National Science Foundation. The college’s faculty and curriculum are held in high esteem throughout the country.
Outside of the classroom, Green River offers a wide range of academic and extra-curricular opportunities to its students to develop new interests and friendships, expand their knowledge of leadership; broaden their network of faculty, students and alumni and participate in educational and social events. Involvement in the extracurricular life not only enriches the collegiate experience; it provides important background and experience for a student's resume.
There are many advantages to starting your undergraduate engineering degree at Green River College:
Attesting to the high quality of the Engineering degree offered at Green River, many universities, including the University of California Irvine, San Francisco State University, and Purdue University, have signed Conditional Admissions and Designated Pathway agreements with the college. Students who complete their engineering degree at Green River and apply to these universities will be automatically accepted so long as they apply on time and meet minimum admissions requirements. See University Transfer Pathway.
Many students, however, have also transferred to other top universities without the use of conditional admissions agreements. These institutions include the University of Chicago, University of Washington, Johns Hopkins, UC Berkeley, Cornell, Brown, and many more!
In addition, not only does Green River offer a high quality degree but also the chance to live and learn in alongside students from more than 64 countries. This provides students with the cross-cultural skills and competence necessary to function in today's increasingly globalized business world. (Requirements for an Associate in Science Degree)
