The smaller number of students in the classroom at Green River was important for Christine. "It's easier for students to ask questions," she says, " than at a university that can have 300 students in their undergraduate classes."

Originally from Bandung, Indonesia, Vonny came to Green River in the fall of 2003 to study science and education.  "I love everything about science and one day I would like to go back to my country and teach science in a secondary school," said Vonny.  Vonny graduated from Green River with an AA degree.  She will be transferring to Johns Hopkins University, a leading university in biomedical research. "My advisor at Green River told me about this college and encouraged me to apply," said Vonny. Vonny was also accepted into UC Berkeley, UCLA, and UC Santa Barbara.

Hanh loved all the activities that she participated in at Green River. "We went to the San Juan Islands, there were only seven people, and the price was so affordable," says Hanh. Erica said one of her most positive experiences at Green River was working at the college radio station, KGRG. "I was nervous at first because I didn't know what I was doing." However, Erica's confidence grew with more time on the air and by taking call in requests. This experience was a break from her academic classes such as economics and accounting.

Piti liked the small classes at Green River which, "Gave me more personal attention from the instructor." He particular enjoyed taking economics and said it, "reflects the real world and makes me see the world in a different, more mature way." In addition to the people, Piti says that the college environment is peaceful compared to Bangkok and Singapore, where he lived before coming to Green River.

It was not hard for Chihiro to pick Green River as a place to study in the United States. When she e-mailed Green River for information, the responses were quick and the messages kind.
