Green River offers a variety of scholarships and work grants to international students. Scholarships are awarded as partial tuition waivers (reduction in tuition) and work grants are offered as paid, part-time on-campus jobs. Scholarships and work grants range from US $200 to $500, depending on the type and duration of the award.

International Student Scholarships & Work Grants

For New Students

Achievement, Merit & Leadership Scholarships

**Awards range from $200 to $500. Achievement, Merit & Leadership Scholarships are awarded in the form of tuition waivers in one or three installments, depending on the terms of the award.

  • Recommended Application Deadline - Aug. 15 (Fall), Nov. 15 (Winter),Feb. 15 (Spring), May 15 (Summer)
  • Eligibility - *NEW F-1 full time students at Green River
  • Number of awards available: Many
  • Application Requirements:
    1. International Student Scholarship Application form for New Students [PDF]
    2. Academic transcripts (in English, a copy is acceptable)

* A "new" student is one who has applied for admission but who has not yet attended classes full time at Green River College.
**Scholarships and work grants are awarded based on maintaining a full-time course load at Green River (12+ credits).

Leadership Work Grant: International Student Ambassador (ISA) Apprentice

**Student may earn up to $1,000 per quarter training in the on-campus leadership program.

ISA Apprentice awards are work grants and may be one, two or three quarters in length depending on the terms of the award.

  • Recommended Application Deadline - July 10 (Fall), December 4 (Winter), February 26 (Spring)
  • Eligibility - *NEW F-1 full time students at Geen River
  • Number of awards available: 4 awards
  • Application Requirement:

**Scholarships and work grants are awarded based on maintaining a full-time course load at Green River (12+ credits).

For Current Students

Achievement Scholarship

**Awards range from $250 to $500. Scholarships are disbursed in one or three installments, depending on the award amount. The minimum award is $250 for one quarter; the maximum award is $1,500 disbursed equally over three quarters

**Scholarships and work grants are awarded based on maintaining a full-time course load at Green River (12+ credits).

Leadership Work Grant: International Student Ambassadors

** Student will earn approximately $5,500 per year working in the campus leadership program up to 13 hours per week (40 hours during breaks) while a full-time student. Students begin 30 days prior to fall orientation and continue through the academic year.

  • Recommended Application Deadline - April 10 (August start for full year position)
  • Eligibility - *CURRENT F-1 full time students at Green River.
  • Number of awards available: 4
  • Application Requirement:
    1. International Student Ambassador Application through the Community Leadership, Education & Outreach (CLEO) Program

* A "current" student is one who has attended classes full time at Green River.
**Scholarships and work grants are awarded based on maintaining a full-time course load at Green River (12+ credits).

Campus Work Grants

**Student will earn approximately $1500-$5,000 per year (over a period of three quarters) working on campus (up to 16/hours per week) while a full-time student.

Students may use their award for 3 quarters over one year, the first quarter of use being fall or spring quarter, whichever comes first.

  • Recommended Application Deadline - Ongoing: application deadline varies through the year and are dependent on position openings
  • Eligibility - *CURRENT F-1 full time students at Green River with a minimum TOEFL score of 500 or academic placement
  • Number of awards available: More than 45 annual placements
  • Application Requirements:
    1. International Student Employment application
    2. Resume of skills and work experience
    3. Other requirements depending on the specific position

**Scholarships and work grants are awarded based on maintaining a full-time course load at Green River (12+ credits).

Campus Community Service: Peer Volunteers

**Student serves as a peer helper at the quarterly new student orientation. Student receives training and invaluable experience working on a team.

  • Recommended Application Deadline - Ongoing: application are accepted once per quarter; the deadline varies
  • Eligibility - *CURRENT F-1 full time students at Green River.
  • Number of awards available: More than 20 each quarter
  • Application Requirement:
    1. Peer Volunteer application

* A "current" student is one who has attended classes full time at Green River.
**Scholarships and work grants are awarded based on maintaining a full-time course load at Green River (12+ credits).

Community Service: Volunteer Positions

**Student is provided community service opportunities. Student works alongside other international and domestic students and receives experience for use as future work reference or transfer university application. Student receives a Certificate of Achievement.

  • Recommended Application Deadline - Ongoing: application deadline varies through the year and are dependent on position openings
  • Eligibility - *CURRENT F-1 full time students at Green River
  • Number of awards available: More than 100 opportunities each quarter
  • Application Requirement:
    1. Complete volunteer registration though Office of Campus Life
