It is very important to attend Orientation Week to get off to a good start on your academic journey at Green River College!

For more information on placement tests go to the Advising page.

Advising

After you are admitted to Green River College, you will be assigned an advisor based on your major. Your advisor will send you a welcome email a few weeks before orientation. If you change majors during your studies at Green River, you may then change your advisor to the specialist for your area of study.

Registration

Students who have met the English Proficiency Requirements and are eligible for academic classes, will meet with their advisor before registering for their first quarter classes. During the middle of their first quarter academic students meet one-on-one with their advisor to develop their personal education plan. The plan includes their major, destination universities and draft 2-year course plan.

Seattle Trip

Seattle Trip

During your first two weeks at Green River College new students go on a trip to Seattle with student leaders and staff from Green River. On this trip we go sightseeing and shopping!

Overnight Camp

roasting marshmallows

Green River provides a free overnight trip for new international students and returning international and American student leaders. You will be staying in a comfortable, heated lodge and enjoy a traditional campfire in the evening. Activities include: swimming, boating, horseback riding, archery, paintball, sports, movies, games, and more! We hope you will join us for the fun!

The purpose of the trip is to make friends and have fun before classes start.

What to Wear

Students and faculty dress casually at Green River. A typical and acceptable winter outfit might be jeans and a pullover or shirt; in the summer when the weather is warm, many students wear shorts to class. A rain jacket is a good item to have any time of the year.
