Khulan Tumurbat is from Mongolia, a country northwest of China. She is 19 years old and came to Green River College in the winter of 2008. She is majoring in Psychology and hopes to transfer to the University of Texas, Austin this fall.

Khulan was able to help finance her education at Green River by working on campus and receiving two scholarships.  She currently works as an International Student Ambassador which pays her about $1300 per quarter. As an ISA Khulan helps international students feel at home at Green River. She also plans events that bring students together. Some examples are the Pumpkin Carving Contest, New Years Celebration, Talent Shows, Chinese New Years, "Keeping it Green" Week, and Nirvana Day - a day of good deeds.

Khulan said, "As an International Student Ambassador, I learned how to communicate successfully, organize my time effectively and at the same time I created beautiful memories and great friendships that will last a lifetime."

Khulan also received a Meritorious scholarship worth $1,000 and a Social Science Scholarship worth $300.00.  "The scholarships really motivated me and encouraged me to keep moving towards my dream," said Khulan.

"GRCC is one of the friendliest places I have ever visited. There are so many resources and  I had so much support.  I collected a lot of stars on this campus. I feel confident I can move on...but this place will always be in my heart. I will miss everyone."
