University of Washington President
Featured Speaker at GRCC Graduation
University of Washington President
Mark Emmert will be Green River's Graduation
Speaker. This will be particularly special
event since President Emmert is a Green
River alumna.
President Emmert attended Green River
from 1971 to 1973 before transferring
to the UW where he graduated with a
degree in political science in 1975.
Emmert became the 30th president of
the UW in 2004
Five Excellent Reasons to Begin
at Green River
- Nearly 30%
of students graduating from the
University of Washington and the
University of California started
at a Community College?
- Research shows that students
from a community college do just
as well academically or even better
than students who began at a university
right out of college.
- There is a greater focus on
instruction. The average class size
at GRCC is 30 while many of the
freshman classes at the university
are up to 700 students. Green River
professors appreciate the smaller
class sizes and engaging learning
environment.
- Attending Green River before
transferring to complete a bachelor’s
degree can save a student thousands
of dollars.
- There are five full-time transfer
specialists to ensure a smooth transition
to a university for all Green River
international students. Individual
meetings with your advisor, transfer
workshops and individual meetings
with university representatives
are all available to help you determine
the best course of study and university
for you.
