Student
of the Month
Aya Ito - Japan
"GRCC offers great support in
every area," said Aya Ito.
Aya Ito
is from Japan. She came to
Green River Community College in the
summer of 2009 as an IESL student and then transferred into
the academic program in the fall.
"When I have kids, I will send them to Green River Community
College," said Aya Ito. "There is a lot support
here. Everybody takes really good
care of you."
For example, there are student
marketing assistants that speak
a different language. So
if your English is not very good,
that's okay; there are students here
from all over the world that can
help answer your questions in your
own language.
There is also an
orientation
at the beginning of each quarter and
staff along with peer volunteers
help you to learn all about GRCC,
the US education system, insurance,
banking, and so on.
If you are having difficulty in
some of your classes, there is
Tutoring & Resource Center
that offers help in all your
classes.
If you are wondering what college
to go to or how to get into the
college of your choice,
the
advisors will help you with your degree
planning. "My advisor
is John Tankersley. If I have a question
about a university, we will look at
the website together. And many times
he knows the people at the
university and gives me their
contact information."
"Everybody takes really good care
of us!"
"When I graduate from GRCC,
my goal is to attend the
University of Washington in Seattle
and major in Business. Someday, I would like to
return to Japan and work in the cosmetic industry."
