Students From Afar

This project was funded by a Green River Community College grant to promote diversity on campus. It was conceived as a collaboration among English as a Second Language (ESL) students from the higher levels of ESL, the journalism students from John Knowlton’s class, and a student from Patrick Navin’s photography class.

The photography was done by Irene Eggerman during winter quarter 2004. The interviews were conducted by the journalism students in winter 2004 as well.

The framed summaries were written by Jean Jewell and Catherine Duva, ESL instructors at Green River, based on the interviews and some supplemental conversations. We hope you enjoy these stories.
