Green River recognized as 'exemplary' by Boeing's Aerospace Academic Alignment team
President Ely, Vice President of Instruction Derek Brandes, Director of Corporate and Continuing Education Bob Embrey and deans Josh Clearman, Leslie Moore and Krista Fox joined Boeing representative Melissa Helmenstine for the ceremony.
Green River was recognized last Monday by Boeing's Aerospace Academic Alignment Team for the college's exemplary efforts to help train students to fill aerospace jobs. President Ely, Vice President of Instruction Derek Brandes, Director of Corporate and Continuing Education Bob Embrey and deans Josh Clearman, Leslie Moore and Krista Fox represented Green River at the short ceremony. They were joined by Melissa Helmenstine and Mantz Brinkman from Boeing. Helmenstine and Brinkman serve as members of the company's Aerospace Academic Alignment team.
The Aerospace Academic Alignment Team, is made up of Boeing managers and subject matter experts from around the region. The group works to align K-20 curriculum with current and emerging needs in the aerospace industry and was instrumental in helping the community college system design classes that train students to graduate ready for jobs in the aerospace industry in a short time-frame. Green River's aerospace and advanced manufacturing classes, which began in the spring, were designed with guidance from the team.
