Comprehensive Instructional Assessment Plan

Campus-wide Level of Assessment

  • Campus-wide Assessment: Campus-wide assessment is the process by which faculty formulate student learning outcomes across degrees and certificates of 45 credits or more, collect student data from across the degrees in order to assess how well students are meeting the campus-wide outcomes, and make improvements in curriculum and/or teaching to help students better achieve competency with the different outcomes. The purpose of campus-wide assessment is to 1) help students improve their performance on campus-wide outcomes and 2) help instructors across the degrees better articulate and teach those outcomes.

Program Level of  Assessment

  • Program-level Assessment: Program-level assessment is the process by which faculty in programs formulate clear outcomes for their overall program of study, collect student data from courses across the program in order to assess how well students are meeting the program outcomes, and make improvements in program curriculum to help students better achieve competency with the different outcomes. The purpose of program-level assessment is to 1) help students improve their performance on program outcomes and 2) help instructors across programs to better articulate and teach those outcomes.
    • Green River Meets This Level: Assessment project completed by each program as a requirement of Program Assessment and Improvement. Note: This is run through the VP of Instruction's office.

      • Assessment Portion of Program Assessment and Improvement

      2. After reviewing data/reports collected on the department's performance based on the assessment measures, evaluate the effectiveness of the department.
      3. Recommend areas of improvements and develop an action plan to address those improvements.

Classroom Level of Assessment

  • Course-level Assessment: Course-level assessment is the process by which individual instructors form clear outcomes for their courses, assess student ability of those outcomes, and make changes to their teaching and/or instructional materials to help students better achieve those outcomes. The purpose of course-level assessment is to 1) help students improve their performance on specific course outcomes and 2) help instructors better articulate and teach those outcomes.
