Resources for Current, Prospective and Former (Alumni) Students

Our goal is to partner with students in the process of choosing a fulfilling job/career. That process includes the following steps: 1) Knowing who you are 2) Identifying and researching related jobs/careers and 3) Preparing for the job search.

Step 1: Exploring Educational and Career Options / Who am I?

Before choosing a program or job it is important to first know who you are, including your interests, personality and strengths. Here are tools and resources to help:

Online Career Assessments: Tools to generate ideas and/or provide direction. We offer professional assessments widely used by universities and certified counselors for a fraction of the cost.

Individual Appointments: You can meet with a Career Planner at any time, but we highly recommend first doing some sort of career assessment(s) to save time. To schedule an appointment contact us at 253-833-9111, ext. 2641 or in person at SA 104 and someone at the front desk will be glad to assist you.

Step 2: How to Research Jobs / Where am I Going?

The next step after getting to know who you are is researching related programs and jobs. Instead of asking the question, “What jobs do I fit into?” you can begin asking the better question, “What jobs fit me?” Here are tools and resources to help:

Websites to Research Jobs:

Information Interviewing / Job Shadowing

In addition to online research we encourage you to talk to people who have the job you want and better yet, volunteer or job shadow to experience for yourself if you enjoy the work. This is where having a Linkedin.com account can help you find people.

Step 3: Job Search / How do I Get There?
