About the Violence Prevention and Support Program

The Center for Transformational Wellness at Green River College is a community resource hub and a connecting point, guiding students and colleagues toward the tools and support they need. We help students balance the challenges of life while pursuing their education, equipping them with resources, skills, and pathways to navigate with confidence and self-determination. By collaborating with faculty, staff, and the wider college community, we work to remove barriers, build capacity, and cultivate equity.

Our Violence Prevention and Support Program within our Center works contributes towards these goals in 5 main ways:

  1. Facilitating conversations, advocacy, training, and awareness programming to educate the wider campus community about the dynamics and impacts of gender-based, sexual violence;
  2. Engaging with community partners and organizations to foster referral pathways and relationships to meet the long-term needs of the campus community;
  3. Offering paid, trained peer educator positions to student leaders to engage their peers in conversations and skill-building around topics including consent, healthy relationships, boundary setting, media literacy, and bystander intervention;
  4. Partnering with student-led organizations to develop prevention programming that meets current, relevant needs of our diverse student population; and
  5. Providing confidential, direct, campus-based advocacy services and programs to support the short-term needs of survivors. Anyone can receive support, including staff, faculty, students in all programs, visitors. Services are available to all, including all gender identities, sexual orientations, English language proficiency levels, disability status, and immigration statuses.
