  • Why was I sent this course?
In order to create a safer campus community, every student and employee needs be prepared to respond to potential incidents of harm. According to national surveys, 1 in 3 women, 1 in 6 men, and 1 in 2 transgender/nonbinary individuals have experienced some form of sexual or intimate partner violence in their lifetime, and college students are at an increased risk of experiencing harm.

As a result, federal legislation has been created to ensure that all campuses provide information about survivors' rights and options, tools for violence prevention, local laws and campus policies related to sexual harassment and violence, and provide information about on and off campus resources for survivors.

The Vector Solutions training is just one of the many ways the College fulfills these federal requirements and works hard to ensure the safety of our campus community. Each fall quarter, we email all students to assign them the Vector Solutions training, even if students previously completed it. Students who first enroll in winter, spring, or summer quarter are also sent the training when the start to ensure all new students get access to this information immediately.

The following are links are provided below that outline our College's mission and federal laws related to campus' responsibilities to prevent and respond to violence in our community.

  • I've done training like this before, do I really have to do it again?
For many of our students that have professional work experience, are former military members, or went to a high school that taught about these topics, it may seem like this course will be a repeat of information you already know. However, this training will discuss unique situations for people on a college campus and has content that is specific to Green River College students. So even if you have been through a course like this before, it's still important to know the rules and resources that apply at GRC. Hopefully, since this is a refresh of information, it will make it faster for you to complete the course!
