Center for Transformational Wellness

The Green River College Center for Transformational Wellness serves all members of our campus community. People of any and all genders, sexualities, races, ethnicities, ability, age, language proficiency, and immigration status are welcome. At the Center for Transformational Wellness you can find a safe and peaceful space with access to a variety of free self-care items including menstrual supplies, sexual health products, beverages, snacks and more.

The Center for Transformational Wellness (CTW) hopes to support the social and emotional wellness of the entire Green River College Community. Currently there are specific programs the CTW offers, but any member of the college community can reach out for support.

Violence Prevention and Support

The Center for Transformational Wellness envisions a college community where everyone has the skills to take action to prevent future violence in our community and everyone who has experienced Interpersonal Violence (IPV) receives trauma-informed support.

Collegiate Recovery

The Collegiate Recovery Program offers support to students who are interested in recovery services, whether it be 12-step or harm reduction. Allies and students in recovery or seeking recovery are welcome.

Wellness Support

The Center for Transformational Wellness works to promote an experience of wellness for all students at Green River College.

The CTW Staff

Kelsey Barrans, MSW

Hi GRC Gator! I'm Kelsey, the Director in the Center for Transformational Wellness (CTW). I've worked at Green River for three years, and before that I served survivors of Domestic Violence at a community service organization. I earned both my Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Social Work at the University of Washington, Seattle. I'm a proud Auntie to 5 amazing kiddos, I have two dogs, I love to grow veggies, and I spend far too much time watching my 8 chickens run around.

Joan King

Joan King is a United States Air Force veteran and former English teacher and equity leader. She spends her spare time providing professional development to educators looking to further their understanding of the Asian American communities.

Kendall

I am a dog mom, big sister and recently married! I graduated from UW Seattle in the summer of 2021 with a bachelor's degree in Social Work. I love working with people and am passionate about helping to create a violent free community.  I have a background of working with unsheltered youth and started working with survivors of interpersonal violence as an intern 2 years ago. I also have an interest in mental health services and am planning to get a Masters in clinical social work with a focus on mental health services. I am very excited to be on Green Rivers campus to serve students, faculty, and staff!
