Photo feature: GRC hosts pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic

By Philip Denman, May 12, 2021

Green River College, in collaboration with the Equity in Education Coalition and the Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, hosted a community pop-up COVID-19 clinic on its main Auburn campus on May 3.

The clinic increased access to the vaccination to residents of South King County, as well as Green River students, faculty, and staff. It also provided students from GRC’s Health Sciences & Education Division a unique opportunity to help transform their Student Union into a vaccination clinic while also observing frontline healthcare workers administering vaccinations.

“We would like to say our deepest thanks to Trustee Navas and the EEC as well as the volunteers and staff members who have been coordinating and will be working this pop-up,” dani crivello-chang, Dean, GRC Campus Life, said in an email to the Green River community. “This is just part of the work we are doing to help in getting the vaccine to our most vulnerable groups to best combat hospitalizations and deaths from this terrible pandemic and to keep our community safe.”

The clinic will return May 24 to administer second doses.

GRC strongly encourages all members of our Gator community - students, staff and faculty - to get vaccinated. All Washington residents age 16 or older are currently eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, with children ages 12 to 15 eligible for the two-dose Pfizer vaccine. If you have not received a vaccination list, find vaccination site near your and make an appointment today at https://vaccinelocator.doh.wa.gov/. If you have questions or concerns please consult with your health care provider.
