Veterans Getting Started

Getting Started with Veteran Services

Getting started is a multi-step process. We're here to help you whether or not you plan to use VA benefits.

In addition to Green River College’s Getting Started process, there is an additional process you need to complete to ensure the start of your enrollment, as a veteran/military-connected student, is as streamlined as possible.

Below is a step-by-step guide that will help you navigate that process after you apply for admission.

STEP 1: Complete the Military New Student Orientation

After you have been admitted, you will be notified to complete the Military New Student Orientation (MNSO).

Veteran/military-connected students will complete MNSO in lieu of the New Student Advising and Enrollment (NSAE) session.

Please review our MNSO page to learn more about what the orientation covers including expectations.

While you're waiting to complete your military orientation, start these steps as they apply to you:

STEP 2: Transfer Your Credits

If you have earned credit at other colleges or universities, and/or through the military, the VA requires that your prior credit be evaluated towards the degree or certificate you are pursuing here at Green River. You must request official transcripts from those institutions.

  • Army, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard transcripts can be requested here.
  • Air Force transcripts can be requested here.

Official transcripts must be sent to:

Office of the Registrar

Complete and submit a Transcript Evaluation Request form to the Office of the Registrar. Results of your evaluation will be posted on your student account in approximately four weeks.
