GRC students named to All-Washington Academic Team

Green River College students Sharon Gozali and Anna Matsumoto were recently named to 2018 All-Washington Academic Team. Governor Jay Inslee honored the students at a March 22 ceremony at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia.
The All-Washington Academic Team program highlights and celebrates high-achieving students enrolled in the state’s 34 technical and community colleges. Members of the team may receive a variety of scholarships from some of the state’s public and independent four-year colleges and universities.
Green River Trustee Jackie Boschock and President Suzanne Johnson attended the event to celebrate Gozali and Matsumoto's success.
Gozali is an international student from Jakarta, Indonesia and is pursuing a degree in Business.
"Studying in Green River College has made a big impact on me, mainly on my teamwork skills," Gozali said. "I am working as a Student Marketing Assistant in Green River College and an officer of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Synergy Business Club and Smile Club."
Matsumoto is a Running Start student that is currently majoring in Japanese with the hopes of studying international business after transferring to a university. She has been very successful at Green River College and has thoroughly enjoyed the programs and opportunities offered at Green River. Despite being home schooled her whole life, Matsumoto wasn't afraid to get involved with campus activities and currently serves as the secretary of Phi Theta Kappa. She also involves herself with various other clubs and works in the Foundation office on campus. Outside of school she leads her highschool youth group's worship band, serves as a leader in the middle school youth group, and works another part time job.
After graduating from Green River College, spring of 2018, with her associate degree and high school diploma, Matsumoto hopes to transfer to the University of Washington.
