Bachelor of Applied Science for International Students

Green River College offers innovative Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) Programs that prepare students for immediate entry into jobs. Each BAS Program provides extensive opportunities for hands-on learning and connections with industry. Many of our BAS students begin by completing their Associate degree at Green River College, however, our BAS programs also welcome applications from students who have completed equivalent degrees at colleges and universities around the world.

The most popular BAS programs for International students include:

Information Technology – Software Development*: Students master the newest web and mobile technologies. Graduates have secured jobs with companies including Amazon, Disney, and Microsoft. Students who wish to continue their studies after graduating can take advantage of Green River College’s transfer pathway into Master’s programs at Northeastern University and the University of Washington Tacoma. Read Green River grad Toygan Sevim talks life as a solutions engineer at Disney

Information Technology – Cybersecurity and Networking*: Students analyze the vulnerabilities of an organization’s IT systems and implement security measures. The Green River College Information Technology Program recently won the Aspen Institute’s Excellence and Equity in Community College STEM Award.

Aeronautical Science: Students gain training and credentials that launch them into jobs as Pilots, Dispatchers, and Managers in the rapidly expanding aviation industry. In addition to completing pilot ratings, students can also earn an FAA Dispatcher License. BAS aviation classes are offered online to give students maximum flexibility when scheduling their flight training.

Forest Resource Management: Students manage our 200-acre on-campus forest that features stunning views of Mt. Rainier and salmon swimming in our namesake Green River. Sixty percent of class time is spent outside, including overnight field trips. Graduates embark on outdoor careers in natural resource management, forest engineering, water quality, and wildlife biology.

BAS Marketing and Entrepreneurship: Students gain an entrepreneurial mindset as they build their own venture and get it launch-ready by pitching to industry leaders who provide professional feedback. Students graduate with a portfolio of experiences that demonstrate how they will add value to a company.

BAS Applied Management: Students grow into high-impact business leaders with skills in project management, strategy, negotiation, finance, and marketing.

All graduates of Green River College’s BAS programs are eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT), and graduates of the following programs can also benefit from the 24-month STEM OPT Extension: IT-Software Development, IT-Cybersecurity and Networking, Aeronautical Science, and Forest Resource Management.

Toyhan Sevim BAS graduate Computer Science

“I heard of Green River’s bachelor’s degree program in software development while I was pursuing my associate degree in IT at the college. I really enjoyed the small intimate classroom structure within the program. After a few programming classes, I realized how much I liked writing applications and being able to manipulate web pages. "
