Recent graduates and some current students may be eligible to use high school transcripts for placement in math and English courses, and as prerequisites for other courses.

English Placement by Cumulative GPA:

Students who have graduated from high school located in one of the 50 United States, within the last ten (10) years with a cumulative Grade Point Average (CUM GPA) of 2.5* or higher are eligible for ENGL& 101. 

*Please note that students with high school transcripts listing ELL/ MLE/ ESL courses will not be placed by GPA, rather will be directed to take the College Success assessment.

During Green River registration for Summer and Fall quarters, graduating seniors can send an unofficial high school transcript and fourth quarter progress report for all enrolled classes for evaluation.

Math Course Placement

Our Math Placement Reciprocity Guide (PDF) guide details our evaluation creiteria for placement into Math courses based of the completion of various High School Courses.

Students who have graduated within the last five (5) years or are a Running Start student, from one of the following school districts, may be eligible for placement based on a math course grade.

Students who are within one month of completing a math course at their high school during registration for the next Green River quarter, may be able to use an unofficial transcript and current progress report for placement.

Course Placement for English, Science, and World Languages

Our Placement Reciprocity Guide (PDF) details our evaluation criteria for placement into English, Science and World Languages based on the completion of various High School Courses.

Students who have graduated from high school located in one of the 50 United States, within the last ten (10) years may be able to use their transcripts for English Placement.

Students who completed courses in the last (4) years from an accredited high school located in one of the 50 United States may be able to use their transcripts for physics placement.

We are unable to grant placement from High School Chemistry courses. Placement into Chemistry courses can be achieved by completing the Chemistry Directed Self-Placement

Students who have completed courses in the last two (2) years from an accredited high school located in one of the 50 United States may be able to use their transcripts for Arabic, Spanish, Japanese, German, or French placement.
