How to Mirror & Duplicate Content
Mirroring Content
Mirroring lets you use the same piece of content throughout your website. If the file gets updated in one place, that change will be reflected everywhere it appears on your website.
This is a great option for pieces of content like:
- Quicklinks or Text boxes you'd like to appear on every page
- Important dates or events you'd like to appear on multiple pages
- Social media links you'd like to keep consistent
For content that needs to be mirrored within the righthand column on multiple pages, please contact the College Relations Webt Team who can create an inherited section. This saves time of having to duplicate content on many subpages.
To Mirror Content
1. Open a section on your part of the website and find a content file you'd like to mirror
2. To the right of the file will be a button that says "Actions." Click on it and use the drop-down to select "Mirror"
3. This will open up a view of your Site Structure containing all the pages where you can move this file. Find the section where you'd like the mirrored content to appear and click on it. It will highlight in yellow. Select the section to mirror.
Duplicating Content
Duplicating content files creates an independent piece of content. When you duplicate a content file, your changes will only be reflected in whichever copy you are editing.
To Duplicate Content
1. Open a section on your part of the website and find a content file you'd like to duplicate
2. To the right of the file will be a button that says "Actions." Click on it and use the drop-down to select "Duplicate"
3. This will open up a view of your Site Structure containing all the pages where you can duplicate this file. Find the section where you'd like the duplicate content to appear and click on it. It will highlight in yellow. Select the desired location to duplicate.
