Timely Warning Notifications

Under the Jeanne Clery Act and HEOA, Green River College is required to provide a timely warning or immediate notification of incidents and crimes, which have not yet been mitigated.

When an incident arises, we will keep you up to date to provide you with information for you to manage your personal safety and security. Campus Crime Alerts are released by the Green River Campus Safety Department when certain crimes are reported on Green River College's Clery Geography, and in compliance with federal law. These timely warnings provide information about campus safety situations, and allow campus community members to take precautions for personal safety. All crimes should be reported as soon as possible to Green River Campus Safety

TIMELY WARNING: Attempted Aggravated Assault/320th St./Public Property at GRC Main Campus

Date:  01-04-24

 

DETAILS:  The Auburn Police Department and Green River College Campus Safety are investigating an attempted Aggravated Assault between unknown parties that occurred on public property, specifically on 320th Street just north of Holman Library.  The incident involved two vehicles, one of which was being driven east on 320th Street and the other was parked in the neighborhood north of main campus.  The driver of the parked vehicle fired a weapon at the moving vehicle and an occupant of the moving vehicle fired back at the first vehicle.   This occurred on 01-02-24 at approximately 10:28 pm.  No damage or injuries was found/reported and all vehicles left the area.  The campus was closed during the time of the incident.  It is believed there is no affiliation of any of the suspects with the College.   

 

If anyone has information on the suspects or can identify them, do not make contact on your own but please contact Auburn PD immediately by dialing 911 or Green River Campus Safety at (253)288-3350.

 

WHAT GREEN RIVER IS DOING:  Campus Safety has been working with APD on the investigation and is adding extra patrols to the affected area. 

 

WHAT YOU CAN DO: 

  • Campus Safety recommends that you do not walk or jog alone during all parts of the day.
  • Be aware of your surroundings. When walking to your car, have your keys in your hand and lock the doors immediately upon entering your vehicle.
  • Plan your travel accordingly, using our Safety Ride service or Campus Escort whenever possible. 
  • If approached by strangers, move to a well-lighted area or into an occupied building.
  • Whenever you observe criminal activity or what appears to be criminal activity, IMMEDIATELY  call the police or Campus Safety at (253)288-3350.

TIMELY WARNING: Robbery/Public Property at Kent Station Parking Lot

Date:  12-14-23

DETAILS:  The Kent Police Department and Green River College Campus Safety is investigating the Robbery of a non-student that occurred on public property, specifically the parking lot adjacent to the Green River College building at the Kent Station campus on 12-06-23 between the hours of 10:56 pm and 11:02 pm.  The Robbery was reported to Green River College on 12-12-23. 

According to Kent Police, a non-student who worked in an adjacent building left her office and was putting items into her car when two males and one female, possibly juvenile, came over to her and pushed her to the ground.  They took items from her person, then went to her car and drove the car out of the area. Two were wearing all black clothing and one had on what appeared to be a pink/multi-colored sweatshirt.  Kent PD responded that evening and GRC was notified on 12-12--23.  The victim has no affiliation with Green River College.

TIMELY WARNING: Motor Vehicle Theft/ Auburn Center Parking Lot

TIMELY WARNING:  Motor Vehicle Theft/ Auburn Center Parking Lot

Date:  02-20-24

DETAILS:  The Auburn Police Department is investigating a Motor Vehicle Theft that occurred in the Auburn Center parking lot on 02-20-24 at approximately 9:24am to 9:27am. 

The victim parked his car in the main parking lot of the Auburn Center campus.  Upon his return at approximately 12:05pm, he discovered his truck missing.  During the investigation, it was determined that a silver, older model Dodge Ram truck with two individuals inside pulled up next to the stolen truck at approximately 9:24am.  The two individuals broke into the truck and stole it at approximately 9:27am.

WHAT GREEN RIVER IS DOING:  Campus Safety is working closely with APD with the ongoing investigation and receiving updates as they arrive.

Timely Warning-Motor Vehicle Theft/ Kent Campus Parking Lot

 

Date:  03-14-24

 

DETAILS:  The Kent Police Department is investigating a Motor Vehicle Theft that occurred in the parking lot adjacent to GRC’s Kent Campus on 03-12-24 between the hours of 5 pm to 9:24 pm.  Campus Safety learned of the theft late on 03-13-24.

The victim parked his car in the parking lot west of the Kent Station campus on 03-12-24 at approximately 5 pm.  Upon her return at approximately 9:24 pm, she discovered her car missing.
