Timely Warning Notifications

Under the Jeanne Clery Act and HEOA, Green River College is required to provide a timely warning or immediate notification of incidents and crimes, which have not yet been mitigated.

When an incident arises, we will keep you up to date to provide you with information for you to manage your personal safety and security. Campus Crime Alerts are released by the Green River Campus Safety Department when certain crimes are reported on Green River College's Clery Geography, and in compliance with federal law. These timely warnings provide information about campus safety situations, and allow campus community members to take precautions for personal safety. All crimes should be reported as soon as possible to Green River Campus Safety

 

Timely Warning: Dating Violence/ Salish Hall at Main Campus

TIMELY WARNING:  Dating Violence/Salish Hall at Main Campus 

Date:  04-25-25

DETAILS:  Green River College is investigating an incident of dating violence that occurred on Green River College’s main campus in the Salish Hall lobby on 04-23-25. The incident consisted of a student pushing another student who they had previously dated.  Campus Safety is investigating and coordinating with other College agencies.

If you have any information that might be helpful in this investigation, contact Green River College Campus Safety at (253)288-3350.  Green River College is providing resources to assist the individual involved in this incident and will continue to take actions to maintain the safety and security of the campus community.  

WHAT GREEN RIVER IS DOING:  Campus Safety is working closely with other GRC agencies in regard to the ongoing investigation. Extra patrols and safety measures will be implemented.

WHAT YOU CAN DO: 

  • Walk in pairs or groups when possible.
  • Walk in well-traveled areas.
  • Be aware of your surroundings. If you feel uneasy or unsafe, go to a safe location and call a friend or the police at 911.
  • Let a friend or family member know if you are in a potentially dangerous situation so that they can monitor your whereabouts and check on you, when possible. 
  • Alcohol and other sedatives impair a person's physical and mental abilities, and in the context of sexual violence, can make it easier for an offender to commit a crime and even prevent the victim from recalling the assault.
  • Whenever you observe criminal activity or what appears to be criminal activity, IMMEDIATELY  call the police or Campus Safety at (253)288-3350.

TIMELY WARNING: Motor Vehicle Theft/ GRC Main Campus/ Trades Parking Lot (P-17)

TIMELY WARNING:  Motor Vehicle Theft/ GRC Main Campus/Trades Parking Lot (P-17)

Date:  02-20-25

DETAILS:  The Auburn Police Department is investigating the Motor Vehicle Theft that occurred in the Trades Parking Lot (P-17) on GRC’s main campus on 02-20-25, at approximately 12:19pm. 

The student parked his truck at the north end of the Trades Parking Lot at approximately 11:47am on 02-20-25 and it was discovered missing at 12:19pm.  The vehicle was unlocked but no keys were left in the vehicle at the time of the theft.  The suspect was a male with short black hair, facial hair, wearing a white t-shirt, dark jeans, white tennis shoes, a black backpack on his back, and also carrying a white bag.

If anyone has information on the suspect or can identify him, do not make contact on your own but please contact Auburn PD immediately by dialing 911 or Green River Campus Safety at (253)288-3350.

WHAT GREEN RIVER IS DOING:  Campus Safety is working closely with APD with the ongoing investigation and receiving updates as they arrive.   Campus Safety is doing extra patrols in the affected area.

WHAT YOU CAN DO: 

•  Campus Safety recommends that you lock your vehicle and keep all valuables locked up or out of sight.

•   Be aware of your surroundings.

•   Park in well-lighted areas, if possible. 

•   Whenever you observe criminal activity or what appears to be criminal activity, IMMEDIATELY call the police or Campus Safety at (253)288-3350.

TIMELY WARNING:  Motor Vehicle Theft/ Auburn Center Parking Lot

Date:  02-20-24

DETAILS:  The Auburn Police Department is investigating a Motor Vehicle Theft that occurred in the Auburn Center parking lot on 02-20-24 at approximately 9:24am to 9:27am. 

The victim parked his car in the main parking lot of the Auburn Center campus.  Upon his return at approximately 12:05pm, he discovered his truck missing.  During the investigation, it was determined that a silver, older model Dodge Ram truck with two individuals inside pulled up next to the stolen truck at approximately 9:24am.  The two individuals broke into the truck and stole it at approximately 9:27am.

Timely Warning: Sexual Assault/Campus Corner Apartments (CCA) at Main Campus

 

TIMELY WARNING:  Sexual Assault/Campus Corner Apartments (CCA) at Main Campus

Date:  04-30-24

DETAILS:  Green River College is investigating a sexual assault that occurred on Green River College's main campus on Campus Corner Apartment property.  The incident was reported on 04-30-24 but the incident occurred on 04-24-24.  A student reported being sexually assaulted by a non-student that they know.  Campus Safety is investigating and coordinating with other College agencies.
