Natalie Krick: Promise You’ll Make Me Up
July 1 - August, 2024
Promise you'll make me up features photographic objects by Seattle artist Natalie Krick. Krick manipulates appropriated
photographs of Marilyn Monroe, transforming her iconic image into fragments and mirrors.
Using techniques like bending, scratching, layering, puncturing and masking photographs
with reflective resin, Krick creates visually striking objects that evoke Monroe's
iconic image while simultaneously rendering her unrecognizable. The Visual Arts program
at Green River College was proud to feature Natalie Krick as our Artist in Residence
this spring. We are pleased to present a solo exhibition of her work in the gallery
post-residency this summer.
Helen S. Smith Gallery
The Helen S. Smith Gallery on Green River College's main campus was named in honor of the college Foundation's first President. In addition to being one of the college's founding members, she was known as a strong advocate for the arts in the community. The gallery is located at the main entrance of the Holman Library, on the Green River College's main campus. It hosts a number of shows each year, featuring the work of students and Northwest artists. The gallery is currently accepting exhibition proposals.
