Aiperi Zholdoshbekova

SUSI 2016

Concerned about high levels of unemployment in her country, Aiperi developed a project to help students identify the best-fit university for their career goals. First, she and a team of volunteers conducted a survey to find out which professions are in highest demand in Kyrgyzstan. Then she visited all colleges and universities in the country to learn about the majors they offer. With this information, Aiperi led a training session for 20 college-bound students. Participants explored higher education options and discussed the pros and cons of pursuing different occupations. Aiperi is now planning a follow-up workshop in which she will partner with local organizations to introduce students to people working in various professions.
