Housing Fee Required and Other Admissions Updates

By Margarita Conger, Admissions Officer, October 31, 2023

We are happy to see so many students applying to GRC!

To improve our application processing time we regularly review our workflow. Sometimes we must adjust requirements to meet demand and provide the best service to the students who come to GRC.

NEW POLICY ALERT!

A housing placement fee is now required at the time of the application for all students who will be 16 or 17 years old when they arrive. These students must live in GRC housing: Campus Corner Apartments or host family.

We want to make sure our youngest students have the best place to live when they come to GRC. These students cannot legally sign rental contracts in the US and are therefore required to live in GRC approved housing.

Please keep in mind that we may need to pause admission for students who are sixteen if our host family program is full for the term.

Students can request a housing policy exemption if they want to live with friends or family near the college. Please email our housing team at housing@greenriver.edu for more information.

We must receive the housing placement fee or have a policy exemption on record to complete the application process and send the I-20 to the students under the age of eighteen.

Please pay all fees by Flywire when possible. Flywire delivers the payments and refunds faster and is easy to trace.

  • $50 non-refundable application fee
  • $300 refundable housing placement fee – required for admission for students 17 and under

You can help us by giving us all the necessary information and sending the required documents when you submit the application.

Please only use our Online application form. We automated the data transfer process.

  • Select housing preferences: host family (single or shared room), CCA, own housing
  • We must have a personal email for the STUDENT– we cannot send  I-20 forms to agency emails
  • Write in a parent’s name so we can match it to the bank statement.

Please make sure the parents and the student sign the forms, if required, and that all the documents are current – no expired passports.

The admission team has been working with reduced staff this fall but will be training new team members next month. Thank you for your patience as we train new admission officers.
