Green River Celebrates 30 Years of International Student Success

Green River College is proud to have generations of successful alumni around the world. Green River’s International Program was established in 1988 when we hosted our first student from Japan. Thirty years later Green River ranks #8 among 1,200 U.S. community colleges based on international enrollment. Hundreds of Green River Gators worldwide stay connected through our International Alumni Program. We are inspired by the many student success stories shared by our alumni.

What is the secret to the students’ success at Green River and beyond? Quite simply it is our student-centered, relationship-based model. We put students at the center and think holistically about how we can support their success. We consider the whole student with all aspects of their experience— in class, in housing, and in co-curricular activities. We also consider supporting success for their whole life –prior to Green River, during their time here, and beyond.

We believe that meaningful relationships are key to student’s success. Survey Question: Is there someone on campus who cares about you who you feel comfortable going to for help? We will use the information we get from the survey to ensure that every student can name a person who they feel cares about and believes in them. We believe that creating a circle of meaningful relationships around a student is a powerful factor in supporting their success.
