By International Programs, October 28, 2021

Shah Asraff Khan s/o Mohamed Bakhash, also known as Ash is from Singapore. He is majoring in biology and his goal is to get into medical school and become a doctor specializing in biological infrastructure.  Ash is also the ASGRC President, and he is working hard to make GRC a better place for all students.

Ash recently went live on our Instagram page to answer some questions.  You can also watch the video on YouTube.

Here are few answers to some of the questions:

Why did you decide to study at GRC?

My brother was actually a student at Green River College and he had nothing but amazing things to say about Green River and the resources it had. After further research, I discovered how well diverse and inclusive it is.  I also learnt that Green River was the best place to be for international students because of all its care and resources that are readily available for any student.

What do you like most about studying at GRC?

I love all the support I get from the school, the professors, my friends, and all the resources the school has to offer. I have used many of the resources the school has and it has only allowed me to achieve even more than I thought I could.

What activities are you involved in on campus?

I am the ASGRC president. I am also a Peer Educator at the Center for Wellness and Transformation.  I volunteer at the Counseling Center, and I am also in the Mental Health Club.

What would you tell a prospective student about coming to GRC?

Green River is the one school that will without a doubt prioritize your well-being and holistic growth. The resources provided at GRC are like no other. The willingness to help each and every student is amazing.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?

I have never had any regrets about coming to GRC and because of GRC I have been able to discover a lot more about myself and feel comfortable in my skin doing what I love.
