What to Expect for Summer and Fall 2020

SUMMER QUARTER - WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Summer quarter classes begin on June 29
  • Classes remote - online and virtual
  • Integrated English and study skills support (virtual and online, at no additional cost) for Public Speaking (CMST 220) in the summer
  • Teacher-led study groups (virtual and online, at no additional cost) for ENGL 099 and ENGL& 101 in the summer and fall
  • Virtual assistance and support
  • Campus Corner Apartments – Open. Housing Staff will coordinate placement to meet health official requirements for reduced density in college housing: two residents per unit with individual bathroom and bedroom.  International travelers must make independent arrangements for airport arrival. Units are available to accommodate the required 14-day self-isolation.
  • Host family placement - Available. International travelers are required to self-isolate for 14-days before moving to the host family. Green River will assist with arranging hotel accommodations using special GRC discounted rates.
  • Green River campus locations, offices, and buildings will remain closed to the public until directed by the Governor and health officials.

 
FALL QUARTER – WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Classes primarily remote – online and virtual. Limited on campus, in-person instruction.
  • Teacher-led study groups (virtual and online, at no additional cost) for ENGL 099 and ENGL& 101 in the summer and fall
  • Services and Assistance primarily virtual. Limited on campus, in-person service.
  • Campus Corner Apartments – Open. Housing Staff will coordinate placement to meet health official requirements for reduced density in college housing.  International travel requirement for 14-day self-isolation may apply.
  • Host family placement – Available. International travel requirement for 14-day self-isolation may apply.
  • Green River campus locations, building and offices - phased re-opening according to Governor’s directives and guidance from health officials.
  • On campus, in person services and activities will follow a similar phased approach.

 

 ONLINE NOW ON CAMPUS LATER - A NEW PROGRAM

We encourage students and family to consider our Online Now, On Campus Later program. It offers an affordable, convenient way for students to start their college education in home country.  Students can jump start their learning, make friends, and be ready to enjoy campus life when they arrive in the US.

UNIVERSITY TRANSFER CLASS PLUS FREE VIRTUAL LEARNING SUPPORT

International students can take a special class designed with additional study skills support. The class fulfills a general education distribution requirement that is useful to all majors and provides transferable credit. Communication 220 Public Speaking will be taught online by a Green River academic instructor. Study skills and English support will be delivered virtually by a Green River IEP English instructor. The learning support will be provided at times convenient for the majority of students. The additional learning support is FREE. This special program with enhanced support will help new students get a good start and will boost success for continuing students.


 TUITION RATES – NO INCREASE

We are pleased to announce that there will be no change to the 2020-2021 fulltime international tuition rate. See costs and payments.

WASHINGTON STATE - COVID-19 & PHASED RE-OPENING

The Governor’s "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" directive and social distancing practices have successfully slowed the spread of Coronavirus.  The Governor and health officials are directing a phased re-opening of businesses and schools. This is being done by county. Here in King County where Green River College is located, we are currently in Phase 2.
