Lely Shim - Admissions

Lely Shim

My love for learning and helping others, brought me to this country – the land of opportunity. I have been living in Washington State – the Green state since I moved from Indonesia in 2005 and I have never moved since. I graduated from Pierce College Steilacoom with an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts in 2012 and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Washington, Tacoma during the COVID-19 pandemic. I worked at an education agency, military base, community college, technical college, and university before coming to Green River. I am fortunate to experience working in many different types of education settings and I love it. Helping and nurturing students – international and domestic students has brought joy to me because I believe education can change people’s lives. I love camping, hiking, clam digging, crabbing, cooking, and sharing food with others. When I teach, the last day of class is my favorite time because I can share Indonesian food with all my students as a celebration time. Come and visit me in the IPEL office if you need assistance as I would love to help you!
