Paul Sanchez

Director of International Education

Paul brings 20 years of experience in international education including teaching, program administration/coordination, curriculum and program development, and marketing and recruitment for university English language programs. Paul speaks English, Spanish, and Korean.

Before joining Green River, Paul most recently served as the Academic Director at EF Education First in Santa Barbara. From 2014-2021, Paul lived and worked in South Korea where he served as a professor and academic coordinator of Humanities and Social Science at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). While in South Korea, Paul also worked as an international marketing and student recruitment representative for California State University, San Marcos.

At the University of California, San Diego, Paul was an English teacher, teacher trainer, and faculty advisor (2011-2014) and international marketing and recruitment representative (2008-2011). Earlier in his career, Paul served as the assistant academic director of Juan Diego Adult Education Center and was an English instructor at San Diego Community College.

Paul is a proud graduate of Mesa College where he earned his AA degree, then transferred to California State University, Fresno to complete his BA in psychology. Paul has a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate from the International Teacher Training Organization in Guadalajara, Mexico, and a Master of Arts in TESOL from Alliant International University. Paul is currently a doctoral candidate in English education at Chosun National University in South Korea. His research interest is in the use of social media for pedagogical purposes.

Paul is passionate about international education and is dedicated to promoting best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion. He was drawn to Green River’s mission to provide inclusive, equitable access to innovative and comprehensive educational programs.

What does Paul enjoy outside of work? “I enjoy kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, camping, and hiking.”

What Paul is looking forward to as he joins our IPEL family here at Green River College? “I look forward to joining an outstanding team of professionals and educators at Green River College. I am thrilled to be working with international students and helping them reach their educational goals.”
