Nursing Program Application Dates 

Our Nursing programs have multiple pathways, each with its own application and application period. Below you will find the application dates for the LPN to BSN, LPN, and Nursing Assistant programs.

LPN to BSN (BSN)

Full-Time Program:

  • Application Period: February 1 – April 1
  • Program Starts: Fall Quarter
  • Approximate Admission Rate: 50%

Part-Time Program:

  • Application Period: July 15 – September 15
  • Program Starts: Winter Quarter
  • Approximate Admission Rate: 100%

Practical Nursing (LPN)

Full-Time Program:

  • Application Period: April 15 – June 1
  • Program Starts: Fall Quarter
  • Available Program Seats: 40
  • Approximate Admission Rate: 16%

Part-Time Weekend Hybrid Program

  • Application Period: September 15 – November 1
  • Program Starts: Winter Quarter
  • Available Program Seats: 16
  • Approximate Admission Rate: 20%

Part-time Weekday Hybrid Program

  • Application Period: December 1 – January 15
  • Program Starts: Spring Quarter
  • Available Program Seats: 32
  • Approximate Admission Rate: 31%

 

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

When to Apply & Start:

  • Application Period: Applications are accepted each quarter on a first-come, first-served basis until available seats are filled.
  • Program Starts: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer Quarters.
  • Available Program Seats: 20


Nursing Program Admission Requirements 

Admission to the LPN and LPN-to-BSN programs is competitive, and not all applicants who apply will be offered admission. Review the requirements below and meet with your advisor to prepare for a successful application.

Admission to the LPN and LPN-to-BSN programs is competitive, and not all applicants who apply will be offered admission. Review the requirements below and meet with your advisor to prepare for a successful application.

 

LPN to BSN (BSN)
Prerequisite Courses

Applicants must complete the required prerequisite courses before applying.

  • Each prerequisite course must be completed with a 2.5 GPA or higher.
  • A minimum 3.0 cumulative prerequisite GPA is required.
  • Prerequisite courses do not expire.
  • There is no limit on course retakes.
  • One prerequisite course may be in progress at the time of application.
  • Students who completed any prerequisite courses outside of the Washington State community and technical college system must have a completed transcript evaluation on file with the College by the application deadline.

Additional Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be enrolled at Green River College with an active Green River student email account at the time of applicaiton.
  • Submit the LPN-BSN Application.
  • Hold an active, unencumbered Washington State Practical Nursing license.
  • Meet all immunization requirements.
  • Be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
    • Green River will run a background check on admitted students.
      • Review list of disqualifying convictions
    • Drug screenings may be required based on clinical site.
  • Have proof of a COVID-19 vaccination received after September 2023.
  • Have government issued photo id.
  • Hold a current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification.
  • Be 18 years old within 3 months of program completion.

Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Please note that CNA program courses are open until filled. Meeting the admission criteria below does not guarantee a seat in the program for your preferred quarter.

Admission Requirements: 
  • Be enrolled at Green River College with an active Green River student email account at the time of applicaiton.
  • Submit the CNA Application.
  • Meet all immunization requirements.
    • CNA students typically need an annual TB screening, seasonal flu vaccine, and an approved COVID-19 vaccine. 
  • Be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
    • Green River will run a background check on admitted students.
    • Drug screenings may be required based on clinical site.
  • Be 18 years old within 3 months of program completion.
  • Have government issued photo id.
