New College Students: Degrees
Step 1: Complete Green River's Getting Started Steps
- Visit the Green River College Getting Started page.
- Apply to the College, activate your student accounts, complete English and math placement, and complete all other required enrollment steps.
Step 2: Schedule and attend a New Advisement & Enrollment Session
- You will receive an email to sign-up for NSAE after completing English and math placement.
- At NSAE, register for your first-quarter classes and learn about Green River resources.
Step 3: Review Nursing Program Admission Requirements
- Review the admission requirements, including prerequisite courses, GPA requirements, and application deadlines for your intended nursing program.
Step 4: Meet with a Pre-Nursing Advisor
- Develop an academic plan.
- Please note that you must attend NSAE and sign-up for your first quarter of classes before scheduling an appointment with a nursing advisor. Advisors at your NSAE session will help you to enroll in the correct courses for your first quarter.
Step 5: Complete LPN Program Requirements
- Only one prerequisite course may be outstanding when you apply to the LPN program.
Step 6: Apply to the Nursing Program
- Submit your application during the appropriate application period.
- Admission to the LPN program is competitive.
Step 7: Accept Your Offer and Attend Nursing Orientation
- If admitted, complete all required onboarding steps before beginning the program.
Transfer Students: Degrees
Step 1: Complete Green River's Getting Started Steps
- Visit the Green River College Getting Started page.
- Apply to the College, activate your student accounts, and complete all other required enrollment steps.
Step 2: Submit Official Transcripts from Colleges Where You Completed Coursework
- Submit official transcripts with the TER Form, from any college where you completed prerequisite or degree coursework.
- Once your transcripts have been evaluated, your transfer credits will be applied to your Green River record.
- For students who completed any prerequisite courses outside of the community and technical college system of Washington State, a completed official transcript evaluation is required to be on file with the College prior to the deadline of your nursing application.
Step 3: Review Nursing Program Admission Requirements
- Review the admission requirements, including prerequisite courses, GPA requirements, and application deadlines for your intended nursing program.
Step 4: Meet with an Advisor
- Pre-Nursing: Career & Advising Center
- Pre BSN: Adam Brown (abrown@greenriver.edu)
Step 5: Complete any Remaining LPN or BSN Program Prerequisites
- Practical Nursing (LPN): Complete the 9 prerequisite courses.
- LPN-to-BSN: Complete the 12 prerequisite courses and maintain an active, unencumbered Washington State LPN license.
- Only one prerequisite course may be outstanding when you apply.
Step 6: Apply to the Nursing Program
- Submit your application during the appropriate application period.
- Admission is competitive.
Step 7: Accept Your Offer and Attend Nursing Orientation
- If admitted, complete all required onboarding steps before beginning the program.
Certificate Students
Step 1: Complete Green River's Getting Started Steps
- Visit the Green River College Getting Started page.
- Apply to the College, activate your student accounts, and complete all other required enrollment steps.
Step 2: Submit Program Application
- In addition to the College's general application, you will also need to submit the application for your intended program. Please note that you must have an active student email
to access the application.
- The application is available on the page of your intended program.
- Once your application is processed, an email with your next steps will be sent to your student email.
Step 3: Register for Classes
- Once you recieve your next steps email, you should have permission to enroll in your courses once your enrollment appointment arrives. Courses are open until filled.
- If you would like assistance with enrolling in classes, you may sign-up for an NSAE
session. At NSAE advisors will assist you with class registration.
- To sign-up for NSAE, you must first complete English Placement. Once you complete English placement, you will recieve an email with a sign-up link for NSAE.
Step 4: Pay Tuition
- To maintain your seat in the program, you must meet all tuition deadlines.
- The Workforce Education Office provides funding to qualified students.
- Complete the survey at startnextquarter.org to see if you qualify.
- View all your funding options at greenriver.edu/payforcollege.
STEP 5: Attend Orientation (optional but highly recommended)
- Your next steps email will provide details on the date and time for orientation.
- At orientation, you will learn about the program expectations and requirements.
STEP 6: Purchase Required Materials On or Before the First Day
- With your next steps email, you will recieve a list of your required supplies and textbooks.
